Gabe’s Makerspace is a hands-on creative workshop where kids and adults can learn to design, build, and explore using real tools and materials. We focus on fun, safety, and creativity through projects that encourage problem-solving and practical skills.
Gabe's Makerspace is equipped with a variety of hand and power tools for wood and metal working including: bandsaws, chop saws, a table saw, belt/disk bench sander, routers, vertical milling machine, metal lathe, MIG welder, oxy-acetylene torches, bench grinders, 3D printer, CAD workstation, air compressor, vehicle lift, and an overhead hoist.
Project Based Learning is central to Gabe's Makerspace. We start with a project in mind and then learn how to use the tools to achieve that goal. It is a fun and rewarding way to learn. Failure is encouraged! Break the drill bit, snap the board, bend the axle, just wear the safety glasses. Charge ahead; it's exciting!

Learn how to use handtools and powertools while working on a project of your choice.

Learn how to cut, drill, machine, grind, and weld.

Bring your bicycle and learn how to maintain and repair it yourself.

Learn how to take car of your car, including; changing a flat tire, checking fluids, replacing filters and wipers, and checking brakes, hoses, and belts.

One of the best ways to learn about how things work is to take them apart. In this class we'll take apart small engines, household appliances, bicycles, typewriters , and more.

Do you have an invention or idea that requires prototyping? I'm always looking for a unique project to help with. We have in-house Computer Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, and basic machining capabilities, as well as local vendor contacts to make your project a reality.

I was a curious kid with supportive parents who connected me with knowledgeable mentors at an early age. I spent my youth driving our Jeep Willys around our yard at 9 yrs old, powering my bike with a homemade motorized trailer at 12 and building motorcycle powered go karts as a teen.
My studies include a degree in Electromechanical Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology, a Master's in Engineering Management from Tufts, and finally a Private Pilot's License from Urban Aviation.
My work experience includes designing guidance systems for the Navy with Draper Laboratory, and managing medical device programs for Abbott.
Personal projects have ranged from chicken coops to airplanes and have included kayaks, cargo bikes, Pon-canoes and various other residential construction projects including our 1,600 square foot workshop which is home to Gabe's Makerspace.
Gabe's Makerspace welcomes everyone. We're an inclusive and respectful place for learners of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities.

Sessions follow a Gradual Release of Responsibility approach: tools and techniques are first demonstrated, and as students build confidence, they independently apply their skills to complete a project.
